NovaTube – Publish une vidéo

 

As a matter of principle, the Novatube video distribution platform is open like YouTube, and anyone can create an account.

To broadcast a video to a restricted group, you must use the private links

Create your NovaTube user account

To be able to download a video, you must have an account.

Click on the "Create an account" button and enter your name to be displayed, your username (identifier), your email address and a password :

 

After completing the first step, you move on to the second after clicking the "Next" button, enter the display name of your channel and the name of your channel (channel ID) :

a confirmation of account creation is displayed after clicking on the "Create Account" button:

Update your account profile

To update your user profile, change your avatar, change your password... Click on the three vertical dots next to your profile name to bring up a pop-up window in a menu, then in the "My Account" section. You then have a few options:

2.         My library

3.         Miscellaneous

On the My Settings tab, you can :

- change your avatar by sending, from your computer, an image in .png, .jpeg or .jpg format with a maximum size of 100 Kb.

- see your used / maximum upload quota. This quota is determined by the instance hosting your account, and can vary from a few MB to thousands of GB, or even be unlimited. The disk space occupied by all the versions of the video is taken into account, and not only the one you uploaded.

- change your display name, which is different from your username. Your username cannot be changed once created.

- change your password, by typing your password twice and clicking Change Password.

- On some instances, you can choose how to display videos with sensitive content: blurred, unblurred, or 'don't list'.

- you can choose to play videos automatically or not with a checkbox.

Add a video on the NovaTube platform

Log in and click on top right on

For confidentiality, choose Private by default

Public video visible to all (no user login required)

Not listed video visible only with a link

Private video visible only by the owner

Internal video visible to all connected users

You will be able to change this status once the video has been uploaded.

Change Title

Only I can see this video

Only people with the private link (URL) can view this video

(If you want to broadcast the video only to certain people and then send the private link of the video or the link of the private playlist by mail)

Everyone can see this video

Only the users of this instance can see this video (Attention anyone can create a user account and access it)

To get the private link of the video

Click on Share

Click on   to copy the link to the Clipboard

( and then paste it into your email )

 

Create a playlist or playlist of videos

Just like on other video platforms, a playlist on NovaTube is an orderly collection of videos that can be shared or kept private. You can freely add your own or other people's videos to a playlist.

You already have a private playlist associated with your account: "To watch later"!

The creation of new playlists can be done in the My Library > My Playlists tab, or directly via the menu on the left. Then click on "Create a new playlist".

Note that a playlist cannot be associated with any video channel, or any channel of your choice. However, when you create a public playlist, it must be associated with a channel.

You can choose a thumbnail for the playlist, as well as a title and description. They will be the first thing users will see when they perform a search.

 

 

Adding a video to a playlist

Order a playlist

The playlists are ordered so that viewers can watch the videos sequentially. It is up to you to order the videos in your playlist once you have collected them. Click the "Edit" button in the playlist list to access a drag and drop order list.

View a playlist

Displaying a playlist triggers a special mode of the video player: videos in the current playlist are listed in a pane on the right side of the player, so you can quickly navigate through them and view upcoming videos.
